How to check in a minute whether the VPN is working
- Look at the address, country and connection type above with the VPN off. Note them down or take a screenshot.
- Switch the VPN on in the app: press “Connect” and wait until it says the connection is up.
- Come back and press “Refresh”. If the address and country changed and the connection type became “data centre”, the VPN works and leads you through the protected server.
- Nothing changed? Then the VPN didn't connect. Open the app, press “Connect” again, and if that doesn't help, see the walkthrough “the VPN is on and the site still won't open”.
What this data shows
The network data — IP address, location and provider — is how the internet “sees” you. The device data — system, browser, screen resolution — is reported by your browser so pages render correctly. Neither reveals an exact address or a name: the city is derived from the provider's node and often points at a neighbouring or regional centre.
With a VPN on, sites see the address and country of the protected server, and the connection type changes to “data centre”. That is exactly why the data on this page changes once the VPN is on. More on that in “what a VPN is in plain words”.

What is this data and where does it come from?
The IP address, location and provider are determined from your connection — every site you open sees them. The operating system, browser and screen resolution come from your own browser: it reports them to sites so pages render correctly. Your name and exact address cannot be worked out from any of it.
How do I tell from this whether the VPN is working?
Look at the IP, the country and the “connection type” with the VPN off. Then switch the VPN on and refresh the page. If the address and country changed and the connection type became “data centre”, the VPN works: the internet sees you through the protected server, not from home. If everything stayed the same, the VPN didn't connect.
What does “connection type: data centre” mean?
It means you reach the internet through a server in a data centre rather than directly from a home provider — the typical sign of a VPN being on. “Home or office” is an ordinary direct connection. “Mobile internet” means you are going through a mobile carrier.
Why is the city wrong?
Locating a city by IP is always approximate — it shows the provider's node, not your home, and often points at a neighbouring or regional centre. An exact address is not visible from an IP, and that is for the better.
Is it dangerous that my system and browser are visible?
No. Your browser reports this data to every site so pages render correctly — it cannot reveal your name, your passwords or the contents of your messages. We store nothing: everything is determined at the moment the page opens.
The data didn't load — what does that mean?
Part of it (system, browser, screen) is always visible. The network data (IP, provider) is fetched from our server — if it didn't appear, that is a temporary glitch or a blocker cutting background requests. Press “Refresh”; if that doesn't help, disable the blocker for this page or write to us.
